Little River Natural Resources Department

The Little River Band of Ottawa Indians' (LRBOI)  Natural Resources Department (NRD) carries out a wide variety of environmental monitoring and restoration projects in the Manistee area. Presenters include Alexis DeGabriele (Aquatic Biologist- Wetlands), David Karst (Brownfields Specialist), and Alycia Peterson (Great Lakes Policy Specialist). Alexis is responsible for the Tribe’s long-established Wild Rice Program as well as its new Wetlands Program. Alexis has a Bachelor of Science in Applied Ecology and Environmental Sciences and a Master of Geographic Information Science from Michigan Technological University. David coordinates the Tribal Brownfield Program. David has a Bachelor of Science in Geography from South Dakota State University and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning (MUP) from Wayne State University, with a concentration in sustainable development. Alycia is responsible for the Tribe’s LAMP program, projects related to climate change, invasive species, and NRD education services. Alycia obtained her B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Grand Valley State University.
