• As a family man, Allen has raised 5 children with his wife Lynda. They have lived in Marilla Township for 30 years, teaching their children about the “green” way of living.
• As a business man, Allen has owned his own business in Copemish for over 20 years. He is very dedicated to his profession, believing that renewable energy is a better way of living and conserving energy.
• Allen began his political career as the supervisor of Marilla Township for 9 years, before being elected to a seat on the Manistee County Commission. He spent 8 years on the Commission, 4 of which he was the chairman.
• Allen has been involved in several areas of alternative energy and conservation including president and founder of AWEA (American Wind Energy Association), founder of the Michigan Energy Fair, member of the SWOT Wind Energy board, Michigan Chamber of Commerce Energy and Environment committee and board member of the GLREA (Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association).
• In other areas, Allen has assisted his surrounding community by being involved with the Kaleva Norman Dickson school board, the New Start Recycling Board, Shoreline Academy of Business and Trades and the Manistee County ISD. Allen was also instrumental in the Honor Bank branch coming to Copemish, he was one of the original founders of the Kaleva Library Promoters, and assistance in helping Kaleva Meats Grocery Store get financed and opened in Kaleva and original founder of Copemish Heritage Days. Allen won the American City and County award in 2007.
